Deserted Enduring

Hopeful fears turn to overflowing tears.
Days pass by faster than months and years.
In anguish time speeds up magnifying disaster.
Real danger paralyzes us like cement plaster.
Prayers seem blockaded by burdensome weights.
Pain becomes all that’s known as the earth quakes.
Gnarled roots are loosened from the storm’s power.
Rainbows shimmer in light after the heavy shower.

Dreams of rescue follow nights of restless sleep.
All this time standing strong and silent without a peep.
Hearing songs of birds tweeting as the sun crests over the hills.
Infliction being the only friend brings one chills.
Where have the bright filled days all gone?
Even flickering lampposts in the night are withdrawn.

Darkness encompasses all areas around the path.
All that is left is feeling forsaken in the aftermath.
